Hamm is a large city in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located about halfway between Bielefeld and the Ruhr area. The main railway connection between western and eastern Germany runs through the city, so I often travel through it by train. North-east just before Hamm's main station, the railway tracks cross the Datteln-Hamm canal. From the train window, you can get a good view of the canal and the harbour, and especially early in the morning or in the evening, it looks really beautiful in good light. On a clear day, the power plant Werne-Stockum (Gersteinwerk) is also well visible.
Usually railway bridges are not accessible for pedestrians (and photographers). Fortunately, this is different with the old bridge over the Datteln-Hamm Canal! The following two photographs were taken one evening in April.
