After I have photographed two weeks ago the sunset at the Datteln-Hamm Canal in Hamm, I have now also been there early in the morning. The intention to take photos there was a bit of a gamble. According to the weather forecast from the evening before it should be very cloudy and in order to be on time on site, I had to make myself already at 4:00 o'clock in the morning on the way. I just took a chance. Also because the government plans to impose evening-to-morning curfews starting next week due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If it makes a difference, good. However, even without any government restrictions, I hardly met anyone.
Anyway, in retrospect, it was the right decision to make a try and go there. I took pictures from a bridge that crosses the canal at the north harbour. The oil mill and the barges on the right bank were a nice scenery and from clouds was at 6:00 o'clock still nothing to see. But instead a beautiful dawn in the eastern sky.
I shot with the Fujifilm GFX 100S camera and the lenses Fujinon GF 3.5/ 30 mm and GF 4/ 45-100 mm. To get a better handle on the high contrast, I used an ND graduated filter on some of the photos.
