Some more aerial photos taken with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. This time from the Bielefeld district 'Stieghorst'. In addition to various company buildings, there is also a housing estate that was built in the early 1970s. And you can see this very clearly in the style in which it was built. At that time, it was considered particularly progressive to build large residential complexes with many individual apartments in them. Today it is difficult to let these apartments, which hardly anybody wants to live in. After all, efforts are now being made to renovate the houses and make the living environment more attractive.
The photos are taken from the east. In the background you can see the Bielefeld city area with the city centre and the Teutoburg Forest on the horizon.

The main railway connection between Cologne and Berlin runs through Bielefeld. In the 'Schildesche' district, the railway crosses a small valley in which a reservoir, the 'Obersee', was created a few decades ago. I took the following two photos early in the morning about half an hour after sunrise from a hill above the valley. I used my drone, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

Kirchdornberg is a part of my hometown Bielefeld. It lies in the very west of the city and is already very rural. From a wooded hill you have a very good view of the center of Kirchdornberg and especially in the morning the low sun provides a very nice light. This was also the case on Sunday, 24 November 2019. The sunlight refracted in the haze that was still above the village at 9 o'clock in the morning.

On Sunday afternoon I was in the east of Bielefeld on the way. It's not that easy to find a place where you can legally launch a drone. On a small sports field in a small wood, the 'Heeper Fichten' it is possible and on Sunday we had a really nice sunset. Both photos were taken about half an hour apart.

After a week of very mixed weather, a slight improvement was finally announced for Friday, November 22, 2019. In the morning it didn't look like it yet, but I drove to the Bielefeld district Heepen. And it was worth it!
After the rain had disappeared, the sun broke through the grey autumn clouds. I let my drone, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, climb up and took two panoramas. This shows once more that autumn is a beautiful season for dramatic photos. But you have to be patient.

Unfortunately the weather conditions are not as good as it would be necessary to take good aerial photos with a small drone. Of course, you can't expect it to be mid-November, at least not in Germany. Yesterday the sun came out in the afternoon. I took the opportunity to take some photos of the Bielefeld district 'Stieghorst'. Fortunately, there are also some fields from which one can start drones and were it is allowed. I used the DJI Mavic 2 Pro with its 20 megapixel camera again for these pictures. The focal length is about 28 mm related to the 35mm format. The panorama was stitched from two single shots using Photoshop Lightroom.

Since a few days it has become much colder. Especially in the morning you notice that. But the cool autumn weather also often provides nice light and that's why I made my way to the Bielefeld district 'Heepen' last Sunday at 7:30 am. It was quite foggy and with some sunshine over the haze the conditions for landscape photos from the air would have been very good. Unfortunately the fog remained but the sun did not come through. Nevertheless such a weather situation makes interesting photos possible.
The first picture shows the fields at a small forest area, the 'Heeper Fichten'. In the background in the haze the waste incineration plant is just visible. On the second photo you can see the centre of 'Heepen' in the background. But more interesting for me would be the geometric forms in the field in front of it. I don't know why the farmer did this. But he did it very well.
Both pictures were taken with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

Today I photographed the district of my hometown Bielefeld where I live and work from the air. It won't be long before the trees have lost their last foliage, but now they shine in the most beautiful autumn colours. I absolutely wanted to take advantage of that.
The photos were taken with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone. Although the 1 inch chip of the camera certainly can't keep up with a real system camera, you can take amazingly good pictures with the drone. The flight altitude of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro was about 85 meters above ground level. Much more is not allowed in Germany. The overview is nevertheless nice.

The 'Senne' is a landscape area southeast of my hometown Bielefeld. Originally the 'Senne' was a very barren landscape, which was unsuitable for agriculture. For a long time it was only sparsely populated and was at best used as pasture land. At some point they started to reforest the area with conifers. The 'Wistinghauser Senne' is part of this landscape and today a protected area with extensive forests and heathland.
I often visit the Wistinghauser Senne near the small town of Oerlinghausen. The pictures in this post were taken on a Saturday morning in November 2019.

The last days in October were very sunny and quite cool in East Westphalia. Both pictures were taken on the same day in Kirchdornberg, a district of Bielefeld, at the Teutoburg Forest. Early in the morning it was still very foggy. After the sun was higher in the sky, the early fog disappeared quickly and it became a beautiful autumn day.
I took both photos with the Zeiss Batis Distagon 2/ 40 mm CF lens.
